This formulation features SIPERNAT® 2200 PC which is a micro-granular silica with spherical particles, low fines content and high absorption capacity. As micro-granular silica with spherical particles in the range of 320 µm and low fines content, SIPERNAT® 2200 PC is the eco-friendly solution for the replacement of polyethylene beads in exfoliating skin care formulations like shower gels and body cleansers. Besides its scrubbing effect, its microsponge structure can also transport liquid ingredients into the cosmetic formulation.

Procedure for Exfoliating Soap Bar with SIPERNAT® 2200 PC

  1. Add phase 1 into the Hooper and refine twice
  2. Mix all ingredients of phase 2 in a separate beaker
  3. Combine phase 2 to phase 1 in a conventional mixer and mix for 5 minutes
  4. Add the mixture in the Hooper again and refine repeatedly until homogeneity is achieved (about four times)
  5. Extrude twice using a small die plate
  6. Extrude once using a big die plate (NB: Expect a round sausage-like soap)
  7. Cut into small manageable pieces and press into desired soap bars using a soap presser
