The Versagel M series of patented-protected gels is based on gelling hydrocarbons in such a manner as to promote improved skin occlusivity and TEWL. The products enhance moisturization, have excellent suspension ability, have custom rheology or flow capability, and are thermally stable and easy to use.

Visually appealing, they are colorless, odorless and do not discolor with age. They are easier and safer to handle and formulate than gels that use metal stearates or fumed silica. They provide fragrance retention in skin care products and furnish waterproofing properties to sunscreen products. Furthermore, they are hydrophobic, thermally reversible and without syneresis (oil bleed).

Versagel M comes in four viscosity grades:

  • M 200
  • M500
  • M 750
  • M 1600


Clinical studies with gelled mineral oil have shown that moisturization that is measured by TEWL improves 53% even though the gel contains > 90% mineral oil. The polymers are forming a film, preventing moisture loss.

The unparalleled suspension and stability capabilities of the Versagel M Lines demonstrates well-dispersed particles with no settling, agglomeration or re-agglomeration, maintaining even properties throughout. High solids are achievable (50+ wt%) and can be formulated without surfactants to reduce skin irritation. Demonstrations can be seen below using the Versagel M 200 with the following conditions:

Ambient temp (25 °C, 6 months)
Accelerated aging (52 °C, 6 weeks)
Freeze-thaw cycles (-20 °C to 25 °C)
